Racing and Precision Race Services, Inc introduces the new PDU8 and the
newest version of the Configuration Software.
The PDU8 is a smaller version of the original PDU32. The PDU8 has all the
same great features as the PDU32, and has a stud for the main power inlet
instead of the Autosport connector. The newest version of configuration
software (for both the PDU32 & PDU8) now allows the user to use a
schematic package to define the operation of the unit. Additionally, CAN
messages can also be used as inputs to control PDU outputs. Download this
flyer (PDU
Power Controllers) to see all the details about these new
products. Look for the Life Racing ad in the “Race Engine Technology”
magazine.

Motec
unveils Advanced Central Logger and Versatile Input Module:
Motec unveils the ACL (Advanced Central Logger) and the VIM (Versatile
Input Module) and begins the delivery of sold units. The ACL is a logger
that connects to other Motec CAN devices including the SDL, ADL2, E888,
E816, and VIM to name a few. This logger can have up to 8 Gig of storage
and communicates with the user’s laptop via Ethernet. The VIM has 24
analog inputs and 2 digital inputs, and can have sample rates up to 5000
Hz. One IRL team is already using the ACL and VIM, and PRS is working to
get some more units into action at OEM car manufacturers/suppliers and
race teams in all series. For more information download this flyer (Motec
Central Logging System)
September 6, 2006: The Life Racing Power
Distribution Unit (PDU) is a multi channel solid state power switch with
microprocessor control, designed to provide intelligent switch and fuse
functions for 12V common ground systems. 32 power outputs are
independently controlled based on 32 logic inputs. Current flow on all
active outputs is measured and fusing applied based on configurable
current limits, inrush and trip times. A dual purpose fault light
output/manual reset input is provided. All input and output states and
currents are provided on RS232 and CAN datastreams for connection to
logging or telemetry systems.

E-Plex is the
next-generation multiplexing technology for complex vehicles and
equipment. The E-Plex product line is comprised of intuitive user
interfaces, power distribution modules, machine interface modules, sensors
and software. These components electronically connect engines, generators,
lighting, HVAC, audio/video and other equipment. The result is a seamless
monitoring and control solution with dramatically increased system
functionality. Currently the E-Plex product line is geared toward the
marine and motorcoach markets, but other vehicles could certainly benefit

Corvette C6R Team Heads to Le
Mans
June 15, 2005: The Corvette C6R Team (www.prattmiller.com)
starts Practice for the 2005 24 Hours of Le Mans (www.lemans.org/accueil/index.html
) which will start at 4:00 PM Saturday June 18th. The team
has returned to defend its GT1 win here in 2004, and is hopeful of
bringing home their 4th GT1 (GTS) victory in the past 5
years. Jim Kelly of Precision Race Services, Inc. is in Le Mans as a
team member responsible for electrical support on both the #63 and #64
cars. He will also perform the job of Fireman on the #64 car during the
practice days and the race. Precision Race Services, Inc. customers
have won the GT1 (GTS) class of this race, 6 of the last 7 years.
June 16, 2005: Le Mans Update: Rainy weather limited the number of laps
that the Corvette C6R team ran during the 2 practice sessions on
Wednesday June 15, 2005. In the slightly dryer second practice session
both the 63 & 64 car had each of their drivers complete their required
number of laps (3) to qualify them for the race event. After the
completion of these laps, the cars waited for better track conditions to
return to practice. Better conditions never came before the final
checkered flag of the evening at Midnight. Even the top LM1 teams were
a full 30 seconds off their expected pace.
Tune in to the Speed Channel at 10 AM (EDT) on Saturday June 18, to
catch the start of the 73rd 24 Hours of Le Mans, and stay up
all night and watch or return to your TV to catch the spectacular finish
Sunday morning at 10 AM EDT.
